A wonderful thing happened today
Green leaves rustled across a pale blue sky
A mynah, (or was it a songbird), flitted through the boughs
And as I watched from behind prison bars
I felt no peace,
But I felt alive.
A strange thing happened today
The trees stopped rustling and I wondered why
This time, there was no bird
Just the sound of the temple bells and a hovercraft above
Perhaps, the bird didn’t feel welcome anymore.
The trees rustle now, but there is no sound.
The hovercrafts don’t stop
And the trees sleep deeply, like the rest of us.
